Call
to Order - Moderator Kathy Trott
Moderator Trott brought the meeting to order in the new
chapel of the Presbyterian Church of Fair Oaks with prayer
at 8:40 a.m. A quorum of members was present. Host pastor
the Rev. Henry Wells WELCOMED the Presbytery. He related
some of the plans for their building program and renovation
of some of their buildings.
FIRST TIME COMMISSIONERS were recognized
and seated from: Davis CC; PC of Fair Oaks; McCloud CC;
Northminster PC; Westminster PC; Grace PC, Weed.

Consent

The Stated Clerk REQUESTS:
1. Approval of the Minutes of February 26, 2005
2. Approval of the Docket for this meeting
3. Approval of the 2005 Pastoral Contracts and Terms of
Call as included in the docket
Presbytery VOTED to approve items 1-3
as listed above.
The Committee on Ministry REQUESTS that Presbytery approve
the following actions taken on its behalf at its regular
meeting, April 28, 2005. (contract terms are listed on
the 2005 Salary report):
1. The Rev. Dan Wells, Burney PC, one year extension to
January 1, 2006;
2. The Rev. Graham Baird, The Presbyterian Church of Red
Bluff, one year extension to July 16, 2006;
3. The Rev. James Jensen, Vacaville Community Church,
one year extension to May 1, 2006;
4. The Rev. James Hardy, Vacaville Community Church, one
year extension to February 2006;
5. The Rev. Garry Cox, Westminster PC, Sacramento, six
month extension to October 31, 2005.

Presbytery
Council -
Skip Herbert
Presbytery Council REQUESTS that Presbytery elect the
Rev. Richard Pearson to be Stated Clerk of the Presbytery
of Sacramento, effective July 1, 2005. Rev. Pearson was
approved as Clerk elect at the meeting of Presbytery in
Burney on September 25, 2004.
Nominations for this position were opened to the floor
hearing none:
Presbytery VOTED to elect the Rev. Richard
Pearson as Stated Clerk of the Presbytery of Sacramento,
effective, July 1, 2005.
Committee
on Ministry - Joe Harrop
The Committee on Ministry REQUESTS that Presbytery approve
the transfer of the Rev. Kurt Kiesling, Member at Large,
from the Presbytery of the Pacific. Rev. Kiesling is now
living in Chico. His Statement of Faith is on the website
(www.sacpresby.org) and is included in today's packet.
Presbytery VOTED to receive the Rev.
Kurt Kiesling as a Member at Large of the Presbytery of
Sacramento.
Inspirational
Worship - Dr. Christopher Alford
Dr. Alford, who is Minister of Music and Worship for the
Presbyterian Church of Fair Oaks was introduced to the
assembled Presbytery. As speaker of the day his topic
was Modernity, Postmodernity, and Where in the World
Do We Go from Here? Through song and the spoken word
he led the assembled group through each phase of his topic.
The conclusion of his time was leading the group in worship
using the theme This is the day that the Lord has
made....Psalm 118.

Recognition
of the Stated Clerk - Moderator Trott
Moderator Kathy Trott thanked Stated Clerk Elizabeth Groelle
for all the many things she has done for the Presbytery
in the performance of her duties as Stated Clerk these
past 5 years. She presented Liz with a gift certificate.
Presbytery Council Chair Skip Herbert awarded her a Certificate
of Appreciation. Sally Hinchman, Sandy Peirce and Gail
Cullerton all spoke to her dedication to the work of the
Stated Clerk. In turn, Liz expressed her thanks to all
those who have helped her through the years.
Committee
on Ministry - Joe Harrop
The Committee on Ministry REQUESTS that Presbytery:
1. Approve the Call of William Habicht to serve as Associate
Pastor for Outreach and Mission of Davis Community Church,
effective June 6, 2005. Terms of Call:as presented. His
Statement of Faith is on the website and is included in
the packet for this meeting. Meets AAEEO guidelines. Mr.
Habicht's ordination is scheduled for May 29, 2005 in
the Presbytery of Baltimore. Mr. Habicht was asked to
relate his experiences in mission and answer a few questions.
He was excused from the room; there was no further discussion.
Presbytery VOTED to approve the Call
of William Habicht to serve as Associate Pastor for Outreach
and Mission of Davis Community Church, effective June
6, 2005, pending his ordination by the Presbytery of Baltimore,
May 29, 2005.
2. Approve the transfer of the Rev. Wally Drotts, HR,
from the Presbytery of the Redwoods. He currently resides
in Citrus Heights. His Statement of Faith is on the website
and is included in the packet for today.
Presbytery VOTED to approve the transfer
of the Rev. Wally Drotts, HR, from the Presbytery of the
Redwoods.
3. Approve the transfer of the Rev. Edward Fedor from
the National Capital Presbytery as a Member at Large.
Rev. Fedor is retiring this summer as an Air Force chaplain.
His Statement of Faith is on the website and is included
in the packet for today. No Action Rev. Fedor was not
present.
4. Approve the Installation Commission for the Rev. Keith
Posehn, to take place at Cordova PC, Ranch Cordova on
Sunday, May 22, 3005 at 3 p.m. Elder Kathy Trott, Moderator;
Woodland PC; Rev. C.K. Moore, First PC, Redding; Rev.
G. Henry Wells, PC of Fair Oaks; Rev. Mary Lynn Tobin,
Davis CC; Elder Ray Dunham, Cordova PC, Rancho Cordova;
Elder Jim McDonald, Grace PC, Sacramento; Elder William
Rominger, Woodland PC
Presbytery VOTED to approve the Installation
Commission.
5. Dismiss the Rev. Jennifer George to the Church of Scotland
to serve as Pastor of the Moncur Memorial Church, effective
June 1, 2005, upon receipt of a request from the Presbytery
of Orkney.
Presbytery VOTED to dismiss the Rev.
Jennifer George to the Church of Scotland.
Committee
on Preparation for Ministry - Bob Yule
- The Committee on Preparation for Ministry REQUESTS that
Presbytery enroll Colleen Curtis as a Candidate for the
Ministry of the Word and Sacrament. Colleen is a member
of Celtic Cross PC and is attending Princeton Theological
Seminary. Her Statement of Call is included in the packet.
Colleen addressed the Presbytery and was then excused.
Presbytery VOTED to enroll Colleen Curtis
as a Candidate for the Ministry of the Word and Sacrament.
Upon her return to the meeting, Moderator Trott asked
her the questions from the Book of Order which were answered
in the affirmative. Colleen's family members present were
introduced and stood with her as she was welcomed by the
Presbytery as a Candidate. Rev. Bob Yule closed with prayer.
- CPM also reports the following two persons have been
enrolled as Inquirers:
1. Laura Anderson from Davis Community Church
2. Trisha Cline from Westminster PC, Sacramento
Presbytery
Council - Skip Herbert
Presbytery Council RECOMMENDS that the Presbytery of Sacramento
shall abide by the Book of Order G 9.0404d:
"The
presbyteries shall be responsible for raising their own
per capita funds, and for raising and timely transmission
of per capita funds to their respective synods and General
Assembly." This recommendation was placed before
the Presbytery as a MOTION; A period of debate followed
with speakers addressing both sides of the issue.
Presbytery VOTED by secret ballot. Yes
54; No 48 Motion passed.

Budget
and Finance - Barbara Farley
The Budget and Finance Committee REQUESTS Presbytery approval
to amend the previously approved request from Shepherd
of the Sierra PC to refinance their existing loan by guaranteeing
a loan from the Synod of the Pacific and by co signing
the loan, if required for funding by the Synod.
Presbytery VOTED to approve this request.
Report
from Presbyterian Women - Janet Arunyakasem,
past Moderator
Janet presented an overview of all the areas of PWP work
that has been covered during this past year of her term
as Moderator. The new Moderator for next two years is
Shelley Lafferty.
Reports from Presbytery Support Committees
PASTORAL
SUPPORT - Geordie Ziegler
- Solo pastors will be meeting for pastoral care/support
the first Thursday each month at Trinity PC, West Sacramento
- A pastoral care/support group for women pastors will
meet at Bethany PC for lunch on the third Thursday each
month.
CONGREGATIONAL SUPPORT - John Moser listed the
following goals they are working on:
1. Working with churches establishing multiple sites for
worship at their own facilities: Roseville PC and Trinity
PC , West Sacramento.
2. Helping the nesting Vietnamese congregation find a
store front property to move into.
3. Probing to find the best places for new churches.
4. Supporting Cordova PC in transition to a new site.
They have an offer to sell the building for $2.4 million.
5. Assist with a reformed perspective the 15 participation
churches in the New Hope Project.
MISSION
SUPPORT - Aart Van Beek
- Aart introduced Dan Thompson, Chaplain at Juvenile Hall
who related the work he is conducting there. There is
a need for help, prayer partners, financial help, volunteers.
- The Mission Fair will be part of the September Presbytery
meeting.

Sally
Hinchman - General Presbyter for Ministry
- There will be a Sacramento Presbytery Pastors Retreat
at Zephyr Point, October 16 18, 2005.
- A Pastors Sabbath event is being held in Utah over Labor
Day weekend.
- The first ever, Administrative Support Staff conference
will be here June 13 18 contact Barbara Rohrs at the SMP
office
- A Youth Work Camp at Zephyr Point contact Lynn Shultz
at SMP Resource Center
- Prayers are requested for the many congregations and
pastors in transition situations and additionally Byron
Nelson will be retiring September 1st and Liz Groelle
is moving soon.
- Skip Herbert's mother fell and is experiencing some
difficulties.
- Pray for ALL the churches.

Schutte - Associate for Congregational Support
- He emphasized the Youth event work project
at Zephyr Point.
- NCD Conference will be held at Snowbird, Utah, June
13 18 call Jack if interested.
Tom & Joanne Haller - Hunger Action Enablers
- Sign up for their e mail newsletter.
- The Share Catalog is available
- A new study from Hunger Program is entitled Just
Eating.
Recognition
of Older Adults - Dick Wylie
- Dick reminded the Presbytery that many Older Adults
are "making a difference" in the life and ministry
of our churches.
- Need greater support see the health task force flyer.
- The Rev. Margaret Suttle, Fair Oaks, is the national
president of the Older Adults POAM
Announcements:
- Ann Weems to be at Carmichael PC May 14 15 , flyer in
program.
- The church at McCloud has celebrated 100 years. Earl
Palmer was their guest speaker, Earl was ordained at McCloud
where he lived in his youth. Byron Nelson also was a special
speaker. Grace PC at Weed will also celebrate 100 years
soon, both of these churches are presently being served
by the Rev. Leon Thompson who retired to that area.
