February
23, 2002
The next stated meeting of the Presbytery of
Sacramento will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2002.
The meeting will be called to order by Moderator Rev. James
Kitchens at 9:30.a.m. and will end by 3:30.
We will gather for registration and light refreshments at 9:00.
A map with directions to the church is posted on the Presbytery
website, www.sacpresby.org,
and included in hard copy for
those without email.
As was stated in the Pre-Call
sent out on January 10th, all requests for tables, special
equipment or childcare are due to the Stated Clerk by Tuesday, February 12th.
Also due on that date are the nomination forms for Youth Advisory
Delegate to the 2002 General Assembly and names of Elders or Deacons who died
during 2001. She can be reached
at (800) 807-9851, (530) 642-1220, or by calling the Sierra Mission
Partnership office, 916-414-2080 or 1-800-292-4700, ext. 25.
In addition,
any substantive changes or additions that are in the hands of the
Stated Clerk by Tuesday the 19th, will be posted at that time.
As
most of you are aware, this will be the meeting at which ministers and elder
commissioners will be voting on the proposed amendments to the Book of Order.
If your church has any question as to the number of commissioners to
which you are entitled, (There has only been one change since last year.)
please check with the Stated Clerk prior to the meeting.
All persons receiving a ballot will be asked to sign in.
Also
planned for this meeting will be opportunities to meet our new Hunger Action
Enabler Carolyn Bush, the Rev. Rob Brink, Synod of the Pacific Executive, and
the Rev. M. P. Joseph, Companionship Facilitator for Joining Hands Against
Hunger-India. We will be
emphasizing the multi-generational aspect of our denomination by honoring
those former elders and deacons who passed away during 2001, followed by (1)
an opportunity to choose a Youth Advisory Delegate and alternate and (2)
hearing a report on last summer’s Triennium get-together in Valparaiso,
Indiana.
Attached
to this Call is a brief, tentative docket for the meeting and a copy of an
Overture to the 214th General Assembly, which is being submitted by
the session of the McCloud Community Presbyterian Church. This must be
approved by Presbytery before it can be sent on to Louisville.
Please come prepared to respond to and vote on it.
Minutes from the November 27, 2001 presbytery meeting are posted on the web page, and included in hard copy for those receiving notification by mail
